Policing

From 4th December 2023 a new policing model was introduced in Suffolk. A copy of the Suffolk Constabulary Operation Model Booklet can be downloaded by using this link: Suffolk Constabulary Op Model Booklet.pdf

Safer neighbourhood teams have been replaced by Community Policing Teams (CPT) who have responsibility for long term problem solving and engaging with the community.

Police Constable 1293 Niall Johnson will be responsible for includes the following parishes:

Aldham, Capel St Mary, Elmsett, Hadleigh North, Hadleigh South, Higham, Holton St Mary, Kersey, Layham, Wenham Magna, Wenham Parva, Nayland With Wissington, Nedging With Naughton, Polstead, Raydon, Semer, Shelley, Stoke By Nayland, Stratford St Mary and Whatfield.

He will also have support and help from PCSO 3092 Jo Adams, and they will be based out of Hadleigh Police Station. His role within the CPT will be focused on and have oversight of his area, recognising any increased crime trends and bringing in the right resources to deal with it, whether it be from within the police and/or partner agencies. I will also liaise with schools, parish, town and district councils, community speed watch and neighbourhood watch.

This new model should allow me to conduct more proactive patrols, both for re-assurance but also to patrol crime and anti-social behaviour hot spots to prevent/detect those issuesey both know the area well, having already worked out of Hadleigh for many years now.

Also within Suffolk Constabulary there is also the Response Investigation Teams (RIT), they are responsible for dealing with spontaneous emergencies and investigating crimes reported to police.

Reports for the police, of any nature, including crime and anti-social behaviour should be reported via the normal channels, which is 999 if the circumstances are urgent. In all other cases reports can be made via the Suffolk Constabulary Homepage or via 101.
